Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about our services, policies, and approach to care.

What type of therapy do you provide?

At Aikhya Health, I offer psychodynamic and psychoanalytic psychotherapy, an approach grounded in the belief that healing takes place within a safe and consistent relationship.

This type of therapy focuses on understanding the deeper emotional patterns, attachment experiences, and relational dynamics that shape how we feel and act in the present.

Sessions are often held more than once a week, allowing the therapeutic relationship itself to become the foundation for meaningful change and growth.

What happens if I need to cancel my appointment?

Life happens, and emergencies do come up. You will not be charged for cancellations due to emergent situations, but please let us know as soon as possible.

For non-emergency cancellations, I ask for at least 24 hours' notice. Cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice will be charged the full fee for the reserved time slot.

When will I hear back after submitting a consultation request?

Once you submit a consultation request, you can expect to hear back within 24–36 hours. At that time, I will outline next steps for scheduling a brief phone call to discuss your needs and determine whether we might be a good fit to work together.

Do you offer telehealth or in-person appointments?

Yes. I currently offer in-person sessions at my office in Cary, North Carolina, as well as telehealth appointments for individuals and families who prefer to meet virtually or live farther away.

Both options provide the same thoughtful, relationship-based care that forms the foundation of Aikhya Health.

How are my medical records maintained? Is everything confidential?

At Aikhya Health, your privacy and trust are central to the care I provide. I strictly adhere to all HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) regulations and use a HIPAA-compliant electronic health record system to ensure your information remains private and secure. All communications, records, and documentation are maintained confidentially and used only as permitted under our Notice of Privacy Practices.

How can I request a copy of my medical records?

You have the right to request a copy of your medical records or to authorize us to share them with another health care provider. If you would like Aikhya Health to release any portion of your records, please complete and sign our Authorization for the Use and Disclosure of Protected Health Information form. Once received, our team will coordinate securely transferring your records to you or your designated provider.

Do you accept insurance?

Aikhya Health is considered an out-of-network provider and is not currently contracted with insurance companies. Payment for sessions is due in full at the time of your appointment.

If you wish to seek reimbursement from your insurance, we are happy to provide a superbill that you can submit to your carrier. Many of our clients also choose to use Reimbursify, a secure service that streamlines the process of filing for out-of-network reimbursement.

Because every insurance policy differs, we recommend contacting your insurance carrier to clarify your out-of-network mental health benefits before beginning treatment.

How much do appointments cost?

Fees vary depending on the type and length of the appointment (e.g., initial consultation, follow-up, or psychotherapy session). If you're interested in learning more about pricing or whether Aikhya Health may be a good fit for your needs, please complete our request for consultation and our team will follow up with details about appointment types, fees, and availability.

How can I reach my clinician between appointments?

If you are an established patient, you may message your clinician securely through the patient portal for non-urgent concerns or scheduling matters. You may also email directly to info@aikhyahealth.com. Please allow up to two business days for responses, as messages are reviewed during clinical hours.

What should I do if I'm experiencing a mental health emergency?

If you are ever in crisis or feel unsafe, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency department. You may also contact the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline by dialing 988, available 24/7 for immediate support. Additional crisis resources are listed on our website under the Emergency & Crisis Information section.
